On May 14, 1965, Dick Groat led a Cardinals comeback in the ninth at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh with an RBI triple that tied the game at 7-7, before Bill White knocked him in with a single to give the Cardinals an 8-7 edge. The former Pirate went 2 for 3 in the contest, and knocked in three of the Cardinal's runs. The win marked the 14th straight victory for the Cardinals while facing the Pirates, and it was a streak that would extend to 17 games before the Buccos finally claimed a W. Groat had called Pittsburgh home for the first nine years of his career, before a trade put the Birds on the Bat across his chest.
