On April 24, 1982, the Cardinals rattled off their twelfth consecutive win with a 7-4 victory over the Phillies in Philadelphia. Much to the dismay of Cardinal Nation, the streak came to an end the next day with former Redbird and future Hall of Famer Steve Carlton leading Philadelphia to an 8-4 victory.
