On August 20, 1932, Tex Carleton went the distance for the Birds in a 8-7 ten inning win over the Boston Braves at Sportsman's Park in St. Louis. The Braves starter Hub Pruett got roughed up early, he gave up six runs in the second before his day came to an end with just an inning and a third under his belt. By the end of the third the score was 7-3 and it was looking like it was gonna be all Cardinals in this one before the Braves came back with a run in the fifth another in the sixth, then tied it at 7 all, with two runs in the ninth. Both teams had 12 hits apiece before Carleton picked up the hit that mattered most with his tenth inning single in the bottom of the tenth to win it.
